Organization

The GIS Consortium promotes the exchange of ideas and the sharing of solutions.  It encourages members to participate in the development of practical answers to technological needs and to share results throughout its membership.

Through cooperation, communities can effectively consider and adopt new solutions.

The primary objective of the GIS Consortium is to put the technology and information into the hands of staff.  This occurs if organizations work together to keep pace with the quickly moving field of information technology.  Comparisons between local government and the private sector are inevitable.  However, the budget limitations and obligation to the public prevents a level playing field for local governments. The goal of the GIS Consortium is to influence this dynamic by reducing costs while providing innovative solutions to local government's needs.
