GIS platform

The mission of the GIS Consortium is to optimize value by reducing cost and risk to its members. One of the ways to reduce complexity, cost, and risk is to unify the system platform to the extent possible. The GIS Consortium selected a GIS platform with the most evolved solution available while providing open architecture to assure it can interact with other local governement technologies. 

The GIS Consortium approach is to review new industry capabilities as they become available and to adopt the ones that demonstrate an ability to last and increase effeciency.  The primary GIS platform for the GIS Consortium is the ArcGIS product family from ESRI.  ESRI is the clear industry leader in GIS for local government in Illinois and nationally.
