The Village of Lincolnshire is one of the founding communities of the GIS Consortium. The Village was involved in the initial formation of the organization and they continue to play an active role in its evolution.
During the 1990s the Village had developed a computer aided-design (CAD) solution for mapping. Although this data was useful for presentation purposes, it did not provide the integrated system benefits of GIS. The Village joined the Consortium and began the implementation of a GIS by using the CAD data as a starting point. Although most of the mapping at the Village is now done using GIS, CAD continues to play an important integration tool for new developments.
